Admissions Requirement

In addition to the usual requirements for Medical School, professional or volunteer experience in public health or health care is highly desirable. The GRE (Graduate Record Examination) is required; the MCAT is acceptable in lieu of the GRE.

Application Process

Applications to the MD/MPH program ordinarily begin with an application to AMCAS for Admission to Northwestern's Feinberg School of Medicine. Applicants interested in the MD/MPH program may indicate this in the space provided on the Supplemental application sent by the Medical School. Applicants who have been offered a place in the Medical School may apply directly to the Graduate School for admission to the MD/MPH program .

In addition to the application and application fee, applicants must provide transcripts of all post-secondary schools coursework and a one-page statement of purpose describing why the applicant seeks a combined degree program.

After you have been admitted to the MD program at Feinberg School of Medicine, you may access the online application through The Graduate School home page at http://www.tgs.northwestern.edu/ and click on "apply online." Application Deadline

Applications and all supplemental materials must be received by the Graduate School no less than six weeks before the start of the quarter (or by approximately August 1). Applicants may apply to the program up to 12 months prior to the desired start date. As the program has a rolling admissions policy, early application to the MD/MPH program is strongly encouraged.
